What are your views on Sepia Tone photos?

My fiance wants to get christmas pictures in sepia tone, since he has a lot of acne, and he doesn't want it to show up in the picture. I'm torn, I haven't made up my mind on how a set of pictures in a photo studio would look in that tone.
What are your views? Do you like sepia? Why or why not?
An occasional sepia tone is ok, but they get old real fast. Acne is very easy to correct in post processing. Even the basic programs provide tools to remove blemishes. Unless you're posing in clothes from the 1800s, I would advice against it.
