How to memorize notes for Jazz improv solo(trumpet)?
we have a concert up and our director gets our names in a bag and i might
be picked. what notes to you do for solos and stuff? thx xxxx

Okay, improvisation means to make it up as you go along so you cant memorise an improvisation.
(It comes from the word improve, so you take what you havebeen given and then add to it. Kind of like decorating a plain cake and icing it etc...)
You can PRACTICE improvising but if youve memorised note for note what you are playing then you are not improvising anymore.
The notes that you use will depend on the key of the piece of music that you are given.
Dont be nervous, its not that hard. When you were small you were given colouring in sheets to do and you were told to do them whatever colour you wanted, and you just did it. You didnt care about making mistakes then and you shouldnt now.
I have no idea what key you will be in but when you find out play theses notes in any order you like and you cant go wrong.

Explanation. If you were playing in the key of G, the notes would be G A B D E (no C and no F#)
Have fun (thats why its called PLAYING an instrument and not working!)
