Trumpet Mouth Piece help?
Hi,
I play trumpet in my middle school's Symphonic Band and have been playing trumpet for 4 and half years. I want to know what mouthpiece is best for me to play really high notes. I thought of going for this Bach one:

But what do you think I should get?
You probably wont like this answer very much, because to many young trumpet players it is all about playing high, but no mouthpiece will be able to make you all of a sudden have an amazing range. At most, a different mouthpiece usually adds a third or a fourth to your range, but at the same time will make your lower register harder to play in. Hitting higher notes is all about practicing, practicing, and more practicing. Once a trumpet player gets to the point that they can hit the double high C's on their normal mouthpiece is when they switch over to a lead mouthpiece, in which they will have more ease in that register.
The mouthpiece you linked though is not a lead mouthpiece, and while it probably will do very little to your range, it is a very nice mouthpiece. It will probably give you more of a full sound, and give more power to your sound as well. Your best option is to go to your local music store and try out every mouthpiece that they have there and decide which one you prefer though, because mouthpieces are very specific to the player. If you want to be able to play higher, you need to practice more - unfortunately that is the only way.
