Which Euphonium/Baritone Mouthpiece is Better?
I usually play on a 12C but it disturbs with the intonation since it is Small Shank and I have a large shank euphonium. My friend recently gave me a large shank 4AL Mouthpiece. Should I make the change? Will the quality of my playing be better on the 4AL?
The large shank will obviously help ( I am assuming you are using a converter right now) because it will make the instrument resonate better. The 4al will not make the quality of your playing go up just by itself. You will need to get use to it. But once that is done, if the 4al works for you, then you will sound great. For a long time, the 4al was the euphonium professional mouthpiece of choice, especially among Brass Band players.
The 12c in my opinion is an easily beginners mouthpiece or an alright mouthpiece for jazz, but it doesn't make a goo Euphonium Mouthpiece
